^Someone stole my art! He used it in a amatuerish manip, and then had the gumption to say
"If you hadn't taken such a good picture I wouldn't have been able to use it."!! OMFG!! o_O I never gave permission to anyone to use this image. I never give permission on my artwork. It's art, it's my creative impulses made visible, and I would never give ownership rights to anyone else for it! I have a stock account for photos I am willing to share.. I got so fucking mad... I confronted him, sent him links to the TOS and the section on art theft in the FAQ, and reported it to dA. dA removed the image, but he put it up again, using a gold ring instead. The other images he credited are also by non-stock deviants

He has been here for two months, and says he isnt an art thief. In his words:
"I would never do art theft, as I always alert the artist and give them credit for that specific pic, as well as the link to it in the comments area. I will ask more in the future but the issue with stock sometimes is that you dont have the pictue I want in the stock, and the picture inspired me to make said art piece is not stock."He didn't seem to understand that that doesn't make it okay.. Art theft is art theft, even if it
seems justified to the thief, it is still theft! I explained to him that he must ALWAYS have permission, and that if he cant find the stock he wants he can find a stock artist who takes requests... he kind of did a verbal shrug of his sholders...I looked in his gallery and he has so many pieces that use artworks as stock resources... Im not listing his username here, and I hid the comments, as I dont want to create drama. But I am wondering if I should let the other artists know, or if that is creating drama.. but if he stole their art too, wouldnt they want to know?
It makes me mad, but at the same time, it makes me depressed. deviantART is a terrific art community! But I might have to start watermarking. I only found out about this occurance cos he sent me a message... If he hadn't, I would never have known. I've had requests for people to use my art on websites before as well, I always say no. And I wonder how many other websites have just gone ahead and ripped them. I hate watermarks! I feel it detracts from the overall experience of an artwork... but I may have to give in. I know I am no hotshot artist.. My art is just a smiggen above the average.... but I hate the fact that my sharing images here means someone has taken advantage of my
not watermarking my work. I do watermark it everywhere else online... I think it may be time to start doing it here too... :sigh:
Other news... My employer has asked that I create some wallpapers for some new touchscreen computers we are donating to a Not-For-Profit client... They need to be nature themed, and I have to watermark them with our logo... Im getting excited!! I love creating wallpapers!! I love the creative process, and seeing the end result and thinking "I created this!". And yes, I always sign my initials in there somewhere, in a way that isnt always obvious to the naked eye... Im going to have fun on this project!! My changing wallpapers are kind of imfamous around the office... I get bored and create a new one.. Although they are all too bold for a Not-For-Profit.. So no red or black... LOL Will probably be a pale green scheme.. I am also in the planning stages of designing a new website for our software company... This time I am designing it on my own without any input. For the consulting website I was give concepts, and I hate the result... this time i am going to do my thing, then show them some samples... unless they interrupt and start giving "ideas" (read orders *rolls eyes*). Wish me luck!! *rubs hands together in anticipation*
Morbid Angel are playing in Sydney next week... I really want to go.......

But tickets are $65 and I have no one to go with... but they are one of my fav bands.. they havent been here since the 90s.... Im in the middle of a punch up between sensible jacq worried about money and impulsive jacq who loves morbid angel.... I dont know who will win, or how much damage will be done... I
really want to go.... *sigh* but i think i have to be sensible... I havent dont my grocery shopping yet, I am going out to dinner tomorrow night, and I have a dinner party next weekend.... I cant justify spending $65 on tickets, and even more on transport.... eeek!! I need a fairy godmother!!!! ;-p
I have a new music blog! Its called "From a Whisper To a Scream"
[link] and I will be posting all music related blogs there. The latest one is about Karnivool.. My latest music obsession.... I bought
Themata last week, and they are featuring
Sound Awake, their new album, on Triple J this week.. I want it now!! They are a band from Perth, Australia.. Play kind of prog, hard rock, with hints of nu-metal. Ian Kenny, the singer, also has a second band, Birds of Tokyo which is pretty big in Australia right now. Anyway, my new music blog is where i post things about music.. gigs I have been to, music I am listening to, maybe about my newest obsession, an old one, sharing lyrics, videos, or links. Discussions on song meaning, album covers, the silly things like music surveys etc. And on the side menu I have a list of my music sites, music news resources, and some feeds from music sites like triple j, metal hammer, metal underground etc. Let me know what you think! I finally settled on a design I like. Its a black and red tartan theme.. Not all the music is metal, there is a lot of alternate stuff as well. I have such eclectic taste in music LOL Im also trying to go back to my millions of other blogs and repost old entries...
